Boyz in the hood

Conventions:
Boyz in the hood is a film that fits in to the urban realist genre its a about a teenager called trey who grew up in the hood and through out the film we see his friends involved in crime and him trying to get out of it.The conventions usually are the films setting is in a rough area of LA, which is quite poor and crime ridden.The plot usually follows a person who is involved in crime but usually trying to get out of it but it often ends in tradegy.The characters are either strong minded characters that want to go down the right path or they are  characters that are usually involved in crime and force the other characters into it.These characters constrast with eachother and conflict is created between the characters.The characters are typically dressed in a thugs typical clothing hoods, tracksuits and chunky jewellery.

Bullet boy is set in a rough area of london which the lead character Ricky lives in a council estate which is a typical convention of an urban realist film.The plot involves Ricky who has just come out of prison because of a crime he committed, he tries to resist crime but is quickly involved again.The film involves murder and gun and knife crime.
